Jervis Bay - catamarans off the beach

A wonderful place to spend the day, at Jervis Bay you can:

  • take an exhilarating cruise and watch bottlenose dolphins frolic around the boat
  • have a swim - or snorkel/dive waters that are second only to the Great Barrier Reef
  • Huskisson, Jervis Bay - Currambene Creekmunch on takeaway fish and chips at the picturesque Huskisson wharf
  • walk along the waterfront with great views from Huskisson to Vincentia
  • delight in hundreds of birds: rosellas and lorikeets - up close and personal at Green Patch

Jervis Bay has white sands, blue waters, spectacular cliffs and a real sense of wide open space. It's natural beauty has an effect on your spirit. You feel relaxed as you stroll along the beaches and gaze out over the clear blue waters.

Jervis Bay is home to 60 bottle nose dolphins all year round. Whales can be also spotted on their migrations in June and July and between September and November.

Jervis Bay - aboriginal art in the making

Beecroft headland and Booderee National Park have secluded beaches, easy walks, great fishing and spectacular uncrowded scenery. There is a lovely bush walk - the White Sands Walk, from Plantation Point to Hyams Beach. Booderee Botanic Gardens has good walks, including one through a beautiful rainforest gully with numerous native plants.

Aboriginal tribes have lived in the area for more than 4,000 years. Aboriginal stone axe grinding groves and shell middens can be seen on rock platforms and beaches around the bay. Aboriginal artefacts are available at Timbery's Aboriginal Gallery at Huskisson. Or you can take an aboriginal bush tucker tour organized by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community.

A great way to enjoy Jervis Bay is by getting out on to the water. You can sail, surf, wind surf or kayak. Or if you prefer indoor activity, try the gym, heated pools and 40 metre water slide at the new Bay and Basin Leisure Centre at Vincentia.
